Seniors Groups

OWLS Bible Study begins a short study in March on the period between the Old Testament and the New. Questions to be answered: (1) when in this period did groups who persecuted Jesus, such as Pharisees, Sadducees, and Sanhedrin arise? (2) who were the Zealots, (3) why did Syria, Egypt, Greece, and Rome fight over Palestine? The study meets Thursdays at 10:00 am.

Kierkegaard once said, "Life can only be lived forward but, unfortunately, it can only be understood backwards."

OWLS

are, and will continue to be, the church's backbone of service and study. They have been meeting together for 40 years and are managed by a council which meets monthly. Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. features Fellowship meetings with a speaker and refreshments. Speakers are invited to explore many topics: for example, how to care for roses, missionary discussions, women's health issues, travelogues, and many others. Last year, the OWLS annual Thanksgiving dinner served 92, and the Asotin High School girls' choir presented Christmas music.

Commitments:

  1. to create and implement an endowment program for the church under the leadership of the Finance Ministry and Endowment Chair Chris Moore,

  3. In addition, PRIMEtimers invite guest speakers who have knowledge of already existing regional mission projects in order to educate themselves to liaison/assistance possibilities.
  4. Last, the group maintains a social fellowship which includes dining out and attending civic or regional art events together such as the Civic Theater, the Festival of Trees, the Washington-Idaho Chorale. They have a general gathering at five o'clock the first Friday of every month, called First Friday at Five. They meet in homes for a meal, a program, and fellowship. The size of the group varies from 14-24 and all who are retired or thinking of retiring are invited to attend.
